Revolution Mini Review

I have been watching this show since the beginning and I have to say that Season 2 is by far superior to Season 1. The story is intriguing and hooks you in before you know it.
The actors do a great job! Neville can be so calculating. Where is Jason? The bromance of Monroe and Miles is funny to me and both can kick some ass! Aaron has powers?!? The one character I find really annoying is Rachel, she always gets into trouble. And Charlie is just being Charlie.
Although I am sad that it doesn't get the amount of viewers it deserves. Maybe because it is playing too early for such a violent show maybe if it got a better time slot things could get better.. I hope NBC doesn't cancel it cause it's a great show. I will be crushed...

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette First Impressions

After much consideration I finally caved and bought the Naked Basics Palette, I already own the the UB Naked Palette and I love it and use it often but sometimes I feel during the day it is better to use matte eyeshadow.

Brushes Wishlist

Since my last post about the brushes I bought from Hakuhodo, I realized I am still missing some more after watching countless youtube videos and reading reviews. I find I miss a highlighter brush, finishing brush and even more eye brushes. I also want a brush to settle my under-eye concealer. So I am planning to buy the Samantha Chapman Setting Brush and Expert Face Brush because after watching so many Pixiwoo videos I am convinced I need them in my life.
All the other brushes I want are from Hakuhodo because I like the quality and softness of their brushes. The brushes that start with G come from the G Series, B from the Basic Series, J from the J Series, K from the K Series and # from the 200 Series. The price of each series depends on the handle and hair used for each brush. I have spend hours comparing the various brushes from the series with each other both for dimensions and different types of hair in order to make this list. It embodies what I want to buy that I feel I still need.
  1. G5533BkSL Eye Shadow Brush round - Blue Squirrel - $24
I think this brush is similar to MAC 226, I don't own a MAC 226, the Hakuhodo brushes are in my opinion better quality than MAC.
  2. G5523BkSL Eye Shadow Brush round flat - Blue Squirrel - $26
This is similar shape to MAC 217 but with softer hairs.
  3. S102 Finishing Brush round and flat - Blue Squirrel - $142
I want a finishing brush that is soft and has this shape and size, I couldn't find one in their cheaper series.
  4. Kokutan Eye Shadow Brush L - Blue Squirrel - $62
I want a highlighter brush, this looks like the best one in terms of size and density. I saw this in a youtube video and it looks perfect for highlighting.
  5. J214R Duo Fibre Eye Shadow Brush Round  - Goat & Synthetic Fiber - $27
I plan to use this brush for concealer or maybe even foundation application.
  6. J214 Eye Shadow Brush Round - Goat - $35
I want this brush after seeing it in a youtube video.
  7. G5507BkSL Eye Shadow Brush round flat - Horse - $18
I saw this brush in a youtube video and it seems perfect for applying eye shadow, that is what I am planning to use it for.
  8. K021 Eye Shadow Brush round and flat - Blue Squirrel - $33
This brush could also work as a highlighter brush.
  9. K007 Eyeliner Brush round - Weasel - $15
I already own one, I want a backup.
  10. K005 Eye Shadow Brush round and flat - Weasel - $18
I have a similar shaped but denser brush from Samantha Chapman, this looks thinner.
  11. J5523 Eye Shadow Brush Round & Flat - Goat - $18
This is the same as the MAC 217 according to other bloggers. I guess that is why it is always sold out.
  12. J5533 Eye Shadow Brush Tapered - Goat - $17
This looks similar to a MAC 224, I don't own that, I want to test this one.
  13. J163HSH Eyebrow Brush H Angled - Horse & Synthetic - $18
I want to compare this to my MAC 266.
  14. J190S Eyeliner Brush Round - Synthetic Fiber - $15
The hairs are slightly longer than the K007 but seems better for gel eyeliner because it is made from synthetic fiber.
  15. G5530BkSL Eyeliner - Polyester - $15
Another eyeliner brush to test :)
  16. 280 Lip · Concealer Brush Flat - Synthetic Fiber - $18
I want another lip brush that is only synthetic fibers.
Hope this was helpful if you are planning to buying some Hakuhodo brushes.

Best Under-eye Concealer Ever!

Thanks to Lisa Eldridge for this great tip, she was right all along. I recently bought Clinique Airbrush Concealer in the shade 04 Neutral Fair and I have to say it is hands down the best under eye concealer I have ever tried.

Various purchases from a long time ago

These are some purchases from last year. I got the stippling brush and shading brush by Samantha Chapman from Love Make Up - I prefer using my MAC 130 instead of the stippling brush. The shading brush is great for using with concealer or for under the lash line shading.
I bought my first Nars blush in the shade Deep Throat from HQhair and I am planning on buying one more - Desire. The blush looks great with my complexion and gives me a nice flush of color, I apply it using my MAC 187, I am hoping that Desire will be the same but then in pink. This has become my go to blush, it just looks perfect every time I wear it.
From Douglas I got the Guerlain Terracotta 4 seasons in 01 Blondes which I use as contour because you can create the color you need depending on the season. I apply the bronzer using Samantha Chapman multitask brush or my Hakuhodo S103.
Finally, I also bought two Clinique gel eyeliners 01 Black Honey(also from Douglas) and 02 True Black(from StrawberryNet), as I stated before they are great, I just have to get used to using gel eyeliner because I always used liquid eyeliner before...

Till next time...

Nail Art

Last Spring I was inspired to start trying making my own nail art. I searched on Youtube for some tutorials on how to make them, my inspiration video came from Cutenails.

Mini Movie Review: Fast 6

I loved it! I am a huge fan of the series and therefore biased at how I review this series.
I enjoyed how they added Letty to the story line. I did miss Don Omar and Tego Calderon from the cast. But overall it was very entertaining, again some of the action scenes were over the top (I know a runway is not that long) but if you are a fan you can see the fun in them. This is not a movie made to win awards but is made for pure entertainment. It amazes me that after all these years I still get sucked into the story lines of each character. You keep thinking this story ends here but somehow they manage to squeeze a surprise at the end that keeps you wanting more. Props to Vin Diesel and the rest of the cast for keeping us entertained!

Mini Vacation

So I went to Paris for my Birthday with my boyfriend as a mini vacation. I bought a two pack of Crealine H2O make up remover. And I have to say it really does remove everything but it kinds of feel like water which I find amazing. I wanted to buy Embryolisse Lait Concentre Moisturizer but I couldn't find it at that particular pharmacy. I also went to Sephora while I was there because they sell Nars there, I wanted to buy the Nars blush in Desire but they were out of stock. So I can't really say it was a successful shopping experience. Although I am still happy with my purchase.

Till next time...

Chanel

The same fateful day I splurged on MAC Evil Eye Quad which was indeed evil ;-) I decided to try Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation from the Bijenkorf after some testing we(as in the makeup artist and me) decided the shade I needed was 20 Beige which if I use it with the right primer and apply it with the right brush(in my case the MAC 130) it looks absolutely beautiful. Even my bf was surprised at the results and he usually does not care for makeup at all.

Revenge Mini Review

Last weekend I decided to start watching Revenge after reading reviews and hearing from friends that it is a great show. I watched the first 12 episodes over the weekend and I have to say I am in love with this show. This has become my guilty pleasure. Nolan is by far my favorite character. I am loving how the story evolves each week and can't wait for episode 14.

Till next time...

Hakuhodo Brushes

Welcome back!

I know it's been a long time but yeah I've been busy with my studies and work. To recap I bought a lot of stuff since my last post from last year so I am going to start posting again on some past purchases, bare in mind that the pictures are of some used products (I couldn't resist ;-) ). I'll start with my pride and joy the Hakuhodo brushes. Be warned this is a picture heavy post. :)

Vanity Table

I finally went to Ikea to buy my vanity table. My plan was to buy the Malm(€99,95) vanity table but they only had the white one, which doesn't match with any of my other furniture. So I decided to check some other tables/desks instead. I ended up buying a desk with a drawer(€29,95) and a drawer unit(€39,95) from the same line. The drawers are the same color as the rest of my furniture so it's better than completely white. And I also have more storage space now! I also bought a chair, a mirror and a desk pad, since the desk doesn't come with glass topping like the Malm vanity table. And I don't want my make up to accidently spill all over. I also bought some organizers for the drawers. I am so happy that all my make-up is stored in one place. Also bought a small mirror with led lights, love it!

Update MAC Semi-Precious Collection

As soon as I finished work I went to my MAC counter at Douglas to get my goodies. I was really excited and ready to swatch some eyeshadows. As you can see I bought two lipsticks, two Mineralize Blushes, the 234 brush and one Mineralize eyeshadow.

MAC Semi-Precious Collection

When I first heard of this collection my list was really long. This collection consists of lipsticks, cremesheen glasses, mineralize blushes, mineralize skinfinishes, mineralize eyeshadows and some new brushes. It comes out this Saturday. But after seeing some swatches of the products I managed to narrow my list down.

I am definitely gonna buy:
  • Gem of Roses Lipstick - Mid-tone Strawberry Pink (Lustre)
  • Musky Amethyst Lipstick - Deep Plum (Frost)
  • Warmth of Coral Mineralize Blush - Melange of Coral and Peach
  • Pressed Amber Mineralize Blush - Melange of Nude, Beige and Brown
  • 234 Split Fibre Eye Blending Brush
As for the Mineralize Eyeshadows I am torn between Rare Find(light plum), Dark Indulgence(darkened green), Hint of Sapphire(sheer lilac) and Faux Gold(orange/peachy because I don't own any color like this yet).  Blue Sheen(deep blue with nice shimmer) was also on my list but after seeing dupe swatches on Temptalia, I will be buying the Inglot shade #428 instead. Smoked Ruby(copper/bronze also with a very nice shimmer) and Quartz Fusion(glittery pink, bad texture) were also on my list but after seeing swatches, I am not planning on buying them anymore. I am going to buy MAC Cranberry as a dupe for Quartz Fusion. I am only planning on buying two eyeshadows(because otherwise I will spent way too much) but I still can't decide which two... So I will make a decision on Saturday when I can see the eyeshadows and also swatch them myself.
I am not planning on buying any Mineralize Skinfinishes because I don't use them as much as I would like and the main reason being that I don't like how these look with the inner circle being another color(read: mess). I prefer when the colors are separated like in bricks form. And from seeing swatches of the cremesheen glasses they don't interest me either(my wallet is very happy about this!). I will post pictures after my purchase on Saturday.

Have a nice day!
