Up until now...

I applied for a part time job and got it! So I am working 5 days a week. I still have to get used to it even though I only work 4 to 5 hours a day. But I have been a student for quite some time, it's time to adjust to the new experience! Up until now I am enjoying it so I hope it stays that way.
Moving on... so I bought the brush guard after hearing about it from some make up guru's on youtube. And I have to say it really works! I am going to buy and extra pack; the blush (small) pack. I bought the variety pack and the foundation pack. The small ones fit eyeshadow brushes perfectly, the medium is good for face brushes. The shadow (extra small) one is very small, it can fit the eyeshadow brushes but it will stretch a lot so I prefer the small one.
I am currently in the process of buying stuff to store my make up and beauty products in, so I bought some plastic containers. And I am planning to buy the brush roll from Sigma because the one from MAC is very expensive. I am planning to buy a vanity table, chair and mirror from IKEA. I already saw the ones I want on their website but I think I will buy them somewhere in December. Last week Tuesday me and my boyfriend had a brainstorming day over how we were gonna change our bedroom so the table would fit (in the Netherlands bedrooms are usually not that large), we also sketched some possibilities. In the end we decided to change it all over the weekend, we even had to take the bed apart, but everything fits beautifully because we measured it all (yes we are kinda geeky like that). I'm all excited and looking forward to when it's actually here! We have family coming over for Christmas so we have to redecorate a bit. I bought some new covers for our bed. And we have to buy curtains for our bedroom. So yeah most of the redecorating is happening in our bedroom. I was planning on buying new curtains for the study too but my boyfriend isn't feeling that idea... oh well... have to convince him I guess.
I enjoy Christmas shopping and the whole decorating process. Buying the trees, the ornaments and my favorite: Christmas lights! It's one of my favorite holidays! I think we have to buy something cute for Fluffy too. Her own little present under the tree! And a fence so she can't get to the tree.

So yeah that is what is going on right now... Looking forward to it all...

Happy Halloween!

New Shoes!

So today I just went to eat in the city center after I went to the dentist. That is when I decided to just pass by Zara to see their shoes, usually they always have a few that are to die for! They didn't disappoint me this time, I fell in love! The pumps I bought are so cute and quite cheap €69,95. The upper, lining and sock are all leather. I just love them! It has a hidden platform that is just not over the top, I have been wanting to buy pumps like this for quite some time. I think the pumps look better on my feet than on the shelf so my advise would be to always try a shoe on even though you don't quite like how it looks on the shelf. It makes a huge difference when it is on your feet. I also bought a new mac eyeshadow brush, the 239. Also happy with that buy, overall had a great day!

This was all for today,

Fluffy

So today I decided to blog about Fluffy, our lion head dwarf rabbit. She is about 3 months old now and is oh so cute! She likes to sleep during the day and be really active at night. We let her play outside her cage for about one hour each day. When she jumps out of her cage she will start jumping and running all around, really cute! In the beginning she was very afraid of us. But now she is used to us and comes to us and let us pet her. She likes to chew on literally everything! From the carpet to the furniture to my jeans! We haven't figured out yet why she does this... We bought some stuff that she can chew on but she still likes to chew on everything else. But as you can see in the picture below she is just too cute that we forgave her... Yes we know...that is bad...but still...who can refuse a cute face like that?

As you can all see we named her Fluffy cause she looks so fluffy. We feed her dry food and hay each day and change her water bottle too. During the day when she sleeps and wakes up she will yawn, she does this in such a cute way that you can see her tongue and teeth. Just amazing! She always knows how to entertain us with her cute self, just adorable!
So I guess this was all for today.

Philosophy and beyond

So Sunday I was shopping for some MAC items, then I remembered I read on Lushious Beauty that at Skins at the Bijenkorf (a shop in the Netherlands) you can now buy Philosophy products. I have been wanting to try this brand for years (about 4 to be exact)! So I went there and bought Purity made simple and Cinnamon Buns Shower Gel, Bath and Shampoo. Yesterday I decided to try the shower gel and I cannot believe I have been living without this for sooo long. It smells so good, I actually wanted to make some cinnamon buns. Now I am hooked and looking forward to Christmas when I am going to buy some of these products for some family members so they can get hooked too. Love it!
I bought Purity made simple since I have been using the Clinique 3 step plan for about 2 years now. But I hate doing the face wash, tonic, moisturizer and then my regular face moisturizer and eye cream, it takes forever! I will let you know what I think of this product when I use it.
Yesterday I bought John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection, I tried it today and it does work my hair it not as frizzed as before. I usually do not do a lot with my hair, just wash and let try. But when the temperature drops below 18 degrees Celsius I blow dry my hair because I cannot stand wet hair when it's colder. But this has been damaging, so that is why I bought the serum. So I'm happy with my purchase. Next will be to cut my hair, I have been wanting to do this since July... so it's about time!

MAC Cosmetics

So I decided that my first real topic will be about MAC Cosmetics, and my love for make-up.
Let's start at the beginning, I have been using make-up since I was around 14 years old. At first I was only using lipstick and lip gloss. When I was about 15/16 years old I went to a modelling and refinement class, there I learned some basics about foundation, eyeshadow and so on. Back then my brand of choice was Revlon, I was using their foundation, eyeshadow and their liquid eyeliner. I still use the liquid eyeliner today since I do not like using kohl pencils because I can't get the line to be thin enough and liquid eyeliner stays put all day long. By the time I was studying abroad I was experimenting with different eyeshadow application from smokey eye to an everyday look. Today I can say that I am confident about my eye shadow application abilities.

Then in November of 2009 I found out I had a wedding to go to in July 2011, in February I received another wedding invitation also for July, for both I was the maid of honor thus soon my costs were getting higher because in the end I had 3 weddings to attend. That is when I decided I will pay to do my hair but not my make up. So I did a little googling about which brands look professional and so on because there were a few things I have not conquered completely yet which are foundation, powder and blush. My everyday look required liquid eyeliner, some eyeshadow, mascara and lipstick or lip gloss, so I don't use foundation etc.

That is when I discovered MAC Cosmetics and their brushes, I was amazed by what I saw and was excited to buy some. There was only one
little problem, MAC Cosmetics is expensive, but I didn't want to pay someone to do my makeup. A lot of times they do not match the foundation to my actual skin color so then you have an orange face or a darker/lighter foundation than I actually am cause I have fair skin. My google research brought me to some famous youtuber which only grew my interest even further. When I saw videos by the famous youtuber and blogger Miss Chievous and another known youtuber Richie Nickel, they broaden my knowledge about which brushes were good etc. I found a great website called Lushious Beauty where they had a lot of tips about MAC on their forum. My first purchase was in July a week before one of the weddings! I went with my boyfriend and the MAC makeup artist was really nice and did my whole face. She used the 130 brush to apply the Mineralize Skinfinish SPF 15 foundation in NC20, she first asked which foundation I wanted to use, I love cream foundation, HATE liquid foundation. She then put Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in the shade Medium Plus and Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul. By the end I bought them all including the brushes number 217, 219, 130 and 129SH and also their brush cleanser. Eyeshadow colors I decided prior to going there which ones I wanted based on misschievous recommendations and my own personal choice. I know I should have bought them sooner to test putting on the makeup with brushes since I have never done this before but the months prior were used to buy clothes, bags and shoes for the weddings. I went the next day again to buy some more brushes (the 187 and 182 - the kabuki brush) and one eyeshadow I forgot to buy the day before. I started playing with the makeup a few days before one of the weddings, at first I had difficulty doing the eyeshadows as perfect as I did with regular sponge applicator but soon I got the hang of things. I couldn't believe all these years I didn't know about all this. I also started using an eye primer so the eyeshadow will last longer. Alot of these things I learned from makeup books and youtube videos.

After the weddings I kept buying more MAC products and now I have a small stash of items also some limited edition items and the famous Stereo Rose Mineralize Skinfinish. I am planning to buy more but this makeup brand is expensive and I am still only a student. But my list keeps growing, it's a little bit addictive but oh so fun!

On Sunday I bought Heartless Lipstick, Vainglorious eyeshadow and Sweet Joy eyeshadow from the MAC Venomous Villains Collection. I wanted to buy the My Dark Magic Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo but it was sold out. I am so happy with my purchases!

In retrospect I can't believe I didn't know about MAC sooner! I have always been interested in make up, from my group of friends I am the only one with such a collection. It looks that after all these years I have been living under a rock! But this is all going to change now! :)

Hope you enjoyed reading,

From the start...

I just wanted to enter a contest on Miss Chievous and for that I had to either get gmail or open a blogger account. I already have enough emails so I thought blogging? Sure why not! But now I don't know what I should write about; make-up, beauty tools, furniture, my cute little bunny called Fluffy or should I write about things I would like to buy or review some products? There are a lot of options and I love a lot of things. But writing about stuff does not come easily to me, so we'll see how this goes. So if you have any ideas leave me a comment... In the mean time I will try to figure out how to put up my own background and pictures until then...

Hugs,
Alexa
